The Insider Trading module monitors stock purchases and sales reported by directors, executives, and board members of U.S. publicly traded companies (SEC Form 4).
Why It Matters
Insiders know their company better than anyone. When a CEO buys shares with their own money, it's a signal of confidence. Insider purchases have been shown to be a predictive indicator of future performance.
What It Shows
- Latest transactions: Recent buys and sells with date, amount and type
- Cluster buying: When multiple insiders buy simultaneously
- Buy/sell ratio: Proportion of buys vs sells per company
- Significant amount: Filters for material transactions, not routine sales
Buys vs Sells: Insider purchases are more informative than sales. An insider may sell for many reasons (taxes, diversification), but they only buy if they believe the stock will go up.
